El sector turístico siempre me ha parecido de gran interés, quizás por que me gusta mucho viajar o también por las diversas alternativas que se ofrecen en el momento de plantear un viaje./nHace unos meses descubrí Airbnb que es una comunidad de viajeros a través de la cual poner en alquiler (propietarios) o alquilar (viajeros) propiedades para uso vacacional. La idea me pareció muy novedosa y que estaban consiguiendo un gran éxito por lo que a expansión y popularidad se refiere. Empecé a investigar un poco sobre ellos y me pareció que sería un tema interesante para analizar./nEn el proyecto que encontrará a continuación me he centrado en hacer un análisis del porqué del éxito de este modelo de negocio, unas recomendaciones de mejora posibles para el futuro desarrollo de la empresa y determinar en qué industrias se puede aplicar este modelo.

La crisis económica que afecta actualmente a nuestro país ha hecho que la reducción de gasto y la búsqueda de ingresos sea una de las políticas más comunes en todas las administraciones públicas. Estas medidas se han tomado en todos los sectores de la administración pública, incluso en la sanidad. Debido a que la salud pública es el apartado que consume más recursos de los presupuestos del gobierno, hemos querido estudiar los efectos que han tenido los recortes sanitarios en el presupuesto del gobierno de Cataluña. Con este fin hemos tratado dos de las medidas que se han tomado en este sector para reducir el gasto: el Euro por receta y la exclusión de inmigrantes irregulares en la sanidad pública catalana.

En l’estudi que es presenta a continuació pretenem trobar resposta a una qüestió realment complexa, què causa la sobrequalificació universitària a Espanya, especialment durant la última dècada. Entenem per sobrequalificació aquelles persones que tenen una formació superior a la necessària per la feina que duen a terme en el seu lloc de treball./nEns basarem en l’existència d’un desajust entre l’oferta (sistema educatiu) i la demanda de treballadors qualificats, principal causa de la sobrequalificació. D’aquesta manera, estructurarem el treball en dos grans blocs, analitzant l’oferta i la demanda de forma independent. Més concretament, descriurem la situació actual i els factors que originen aquest fenomen./nTot això permetrà al lector entendre què provoca aquesta sobrequalificació amb més detall.

La crisi financera actual ha posat de manifest les conseqüències de no tractar correctament les fallides de mercat en el sector bancari. Aquestes fallides de mercat, que són un element intrínsec de la pròpia activitat bancària, són un element imprescindible per entendre els desequilibris que han desencadenat crisi./nEl treball analitza una de les fallides de mercat del sector bancari que més incidència ha tingut en el desenvolupament de la crisi financera actual: la asimetria informativa. L’objectiu de l’estudi és identificar els problemes de selecció adversa i risc moral que es van produir en els anys previs a la crisi bancaria i fer-ne un/nanàlisi detallat./nLa hipòtesi del treball és que la asimetria informativa impedeix al sector bancari assolir un equilibri Paretoeficient en absència d'una regulació adequada./nPer donar una resposta satisfactòria a la nostra hipòtesi, cal demostrar que la multitud de distorsions que la asimetria informativa va generar tingueren un impacte significatiu en el desenvolupament de la crisi. Amb aquest objectiu, volem mostrar quines han estat les causes i conseqüències d'aquestes distorsions, per què s'han produït i com s’haguessin pogut evitar en un entorn de regulació adequada./nL'estructura del treball és la següent: en primer lloc oferim el context històric que ha motivat aquest treball, és a dir, una breu explicació sobre les causes i conseqüències de la crisi econòmica, establint paral·lelismes amb els casos de asimetria informativa que tractem. En segon lloc, analitzem el paper que ha tingut la/nasimetria informativa en la crisi actual i les raons que ens indiquen que el seu impacte ha estat fonamental/npel desenvolupament de la crisi. En tercer lloc, oferim dos models econòmics, un d’ells d’elaboració pròpia, amb l'objectiu de, no només identificar els diversos problemes de asimetria informativa transcorreguts anteriorment a la crisi bancària, sinó també per donar-hi una resposta econòmicament viable i satisfactòria./nEn quart lloc, exposem les mesures reguladores que considerem que poden solucionar els diferents casos de asimetria informativa analitzats. Finalment, oferim les conclusions més rellevants del treball.

The development and application of the Summers’ efficiency-wage model (1988) applied over the Pridnestrovian labour market highlighted the job unitability in the region after the enforcement of the free trade agreement between the EU and Moldova, in July 2016, that did not include Pridnestrovie.
Because of the current situation, the Pridnestrovian macroeconomic variables, as well as the whole govern-mental policies, have moved towards the stabilization and to guarantee job safeness and competitiveness. Nevertheless, results show the impact on the short-run and the application of the Summers’ model shows differences among risk sources of the labour market.
For this project the model will be followed to some extent and new concepts will be included, such as: the calculation of its parameters or the introduction of the b-value. Therefore, there is an opportunity to achieve competitive economies of scale by promoting those ones with lower rates of b-value.

The debate about increasing gambling is in the spotlight of the whole society. At
the same time, several drives join together to claim for a tighter regulation in view
of the raising amount of compulsive gamblers. Our article seeks to reveal the
existence of a significant impact of household income on the location decision of
betting houses within neighborhoods and whether or not spatial autocorrelation
between them plays a big role. Enclosing Barcelona and Madrid as study areas,
our analysis shows an inverse relationship between the number of betting houses
per neighborhood and the economic status of its residents, but levels of significance
differ across cities. Thus, this study aims to understand the contrast of results
among them, identifying regulatory framework as a potential distinguishing
element.

Large companies are starting to treat automation as a high-priority initiative to be implemented during the upcoming years. Yet, while great strides have been made in applying workplace technologies, it is argued that small businesses face more difficulties than big firms when it comes to a change in their operating system, as well as to exploit the returns to scale. This paper aims to demonstrate that Small and Medium Enterprises can also benefit from automation. Using Visual Basic for Applications, we created a program to automate certain tasks of an existent firm. In this way, we provide evidence that smaller firms could take advantage of a simple and feasible automation of processes.

Los planes de compliance se configuran como una estrategia de defensa preventiva ante una eventual imputación penal de la persona jurídica, la cual desde el año 2010 puede ser responsable en España por ciertos delitos cometidos en su seno o en el marco del desarrollo de su actividad. Generalmente, los programas de compliance se implementan en medianas y grandes empresas y se articulan alrededor de la aportación e instauración de herramientas de detección de riesgos. Pero realmente estos planes deberían ser mucho más que eso: deberían tender a instaurar una cultura empresarial ética y sostenible, asimilada, compartida y practicada por cada uno de los directivos, cuadros intermedios y trabajadores. Y, en este sentido, resultan ser igualmente necesarios y útiles para las microempresas; si bien, estos deberán adaptarse a sus características. Además, su instauración puede entenderse como la punta de lanza mediante la cual introducir la Responsabilidad Social Corporativa en estas organizaciones.
Compliance plans are designed as a preventive defense strategy in the event of criminal charges against the legal person, which since 2010 may be liable in Spain for certain crimes committed within the company or in the course of its business. Generally, compliance programs are implemented in medium and large companies and are structured around the provision and implementation of risk detection tools. But actually, these plans should be much more than that: they should tend to establish an ethical and sustainable business culture, assimilated, shared, and practiced by each of the directors, middle managers, and workers. In this sense, they are equally necessary and useful for micro-enterprises, although they should be adapted to their characteristics. Furthermore, their implementation can be understood as the spearhead through which to introduce Corporate Social Responsibility in these organizations.

El transporte público es considerado un servicio básico para la ciudadanía. Entre el público joven de la provincia de Barcelona, el respectivo resulta en un gasto relevante, especialmente para aquellos jóvenes que residen en un radio más amplio del centro de la ciudad condal. El presente estudio pretende analizar la viabilidad económica sobre la introducción de un nuevo abono dirigido a este segmento, que derive en una aminoración del precio actual y una integración de todas las zonas existentes.
Partiendo del exitoso caso del Abono joven vigente en el sistema madrileño, el análisis revela la importancia de la subvención por parte de las administraciones públicas en la gestión de este servicio.
El proyecto tiene como objetivo alcanzar una equidad tarifaria entre usuarios jóvenes que priorizan el transporte público en dos de las principales ciudades del país.

Joint federal and state health care program Medicaid for low-income families and individuals has regained importance, with millions of Americans recently losing their employer-based healthcare insurance. This academic study analyzes the bipartisan nature of the Democratically-championed Affordable Care Act and Medicaid expansion throughout states. It uses a panel data fixed effects model to assess whether political party affiliation of governors is correlated with state expenditure on Medicaid fiscal periods 1997 to 2018, concluding that Medicaid expenditure on average is higher if Democratic governors rule in contrast to Republican governors especially for federal shares of state expenditure.

The foreign policy of large states has a huge impact, in an interdependent world, on global companies in all sectors. In this paper we will analyze, through the case of Huawei, how the trade war between the two largest world powers (and their allies) affects the technology sector and how this Chinese company has adapted its business strategy to the new environment that is presented to it. To examine these effects, the work is divided into two main blocks: first, the conflict and the corporation are contextualized, while in the second part, Huawei’s strategy of two business units - electronic equipments and telecommunications (5G) - is analyzed before and after the geopolitical obstruction. In conclusion, this research should allow us to understand how a large company can deal with a critical external situation as this one and pivot its international business to avoid a hit that, for many other companies, would have been fatal.

El sector financer europeu s’ha vist transformat els darrers anys pels tipus d’interès baixos i l’entrada de nous competidors, com bancs internacionals i empreses fintech. La rendibilitat i la capacitat de creixement dels bancs ha disminuït fins el punt de comprometre la seva solvència. Tant les entitats com les autoritats bancàries europees han vist en les fusions horitzontals una forma de garantir l’estabilitat del sistema financer. En aquest entorn, la fusió entre Caixabank i Bankia presenta beneficis per a l’entitat resultant, però perjudica potencialment la competència i el benestar dels consumidors. Aquest treball esdevé la primera aproximació a la fusió des de la perspectiva d’una autoritat de competència. Així, s’estudia la concentració al sector, emprant les quotes de crèdit i dipòsit dels bancs a Espanya i la distribució d’oficines a nivell provincial i se’n calcula la variació arran de la fusió. També s’analitzen les sinergies que gaudeixen els bancs involucrats a partir d’anteriors estudis. Els resultats mostren que la fusió permetrà una disminució notable dels costos. D’altra banda, malgrat comportar un impacte significatiu en la concentració, el nivell nacional resultant és moderat. No obstant, la possibilitat de futures fusions posa en perill la competència al sector bancari espanyol.

In this project, we examine patient gender discrimination on both the probabilities of visiting the cardiologist and being diagnosed with a heart disease. Using micro data from the 2016 and 2017 Catalan Health Survey (ESCA), and two Probit estimations for the equations drawn for each case of study, we are able to reach the conclusion that there is gender discrimination both on access and diagnosis for patients with high prospects of suffering heart issues. Our findings suggest that women have lower probabilities of visiting the cardiologist and being diagnosed with a heart disease. Even after adding controls for risk factors, other significant socioeconomic variables, and using two different sub-samples, these results preserve their validity and significance intact.

En los últimos años, los criptoactivos han surgido como una nueva categoría de productos financieros atrayendo la atención tanto de inversores como de reguladores. Muchos agentes invierten en estos productos sin entender qué hay detrás y los riesgos inherentes que conllevan, tomando decisiones sesgadas por falta de información. De este modo, nuestro estudio propone una herramienta, basada en las regulaciones actuales y la propuesta MiCA, en la que los criptoactivos se pueden clasificar por riesgo y opacidad en un espacio bidimensional, permitiendo así, optimizar la toma de decisiones de los agentes, de acuerdo con su tolerancia al riesgo, su conocimiento y sus objetivos de inversión.

The apparel industry has a direct but also invisible impact on people, nature, and all aspects of society at large. Since understanding the current context in depth is pivotal to finding solutions, the present paper starts by analyzing the effect of fashion business activities via the study of reports, articles, and other data. From the research carried out, it is clear that there is a need for companies to be socially and environmentally friendly, but also economically responsible, with a special focus on overconsumption and overproduction. This study aims to open our eyes to the problems caused by the activity of the fashion world, as well as to demonstrate that solutions are possible and feasible, through the example of companies and initiatives that are already available on the market. In essence, this document presents a first guide for those fashion companies that are willing to start their transition towards sustainable business. It also includes a checklist that serves as a self-assessment tool that allows firms to know their situation and can help them prepare for their next steps.

El presente estudio pretende analizar, a través de un análisis jurídico y dos casos prácticos, la fiscalidad directa de la actividad de arrendamiento de inmuebles. El objetivo radica en determinar cuál es la figura más adecuada fiscalmente para realizar dicha actividad, atendidas las circunstancias personales de un grupo de contribuyentes. Así, el propósito principal de este estudio es aportar una respuesta general a la pregunta de cómo debe un arrendador organizar su actividad, concluyéndose que la figura más adecuada fiscalmente es la CB sin actividad económica, siempre que el patrimonio se configure por un número reducido de viviendas, de tal manera que a medida que el patrimonio crece, el régimen EDAV se convierte en la opción más favorable.

The Black-Scholes model fails to reproduce some empirical properties of volatility, from real market data, which means that the model may not be adequate to price certain options. Hence, the financial industry and academia focused on developing alternative models and methods for pricing. One of these models is the SABR model, a stochastic volatility model commonly used in nowadays financial industry. In this project, we aim to analyze and discuss the SABR model from both the theoretical and the practical point of view by motivating the usage of this model and showing how it can be applied in different aspects of the financial practice such as calibration, simulation and numerical methods to obtain implied volatilities. Throughout this analysis and discussion, we also aim to give some insights regarding what practitioners do, to give some sense of the applicability of the model and the methods in the real world.

The purpose of this study is to identify how Nike commercials are tailored to Chinese culture, aiming to understand the interrelationship between culture and advertising. By employing the GLOBE cultural dimensions framework, this project intends to provide insights to sports companies on how to effectively adapt their commercial campaigns to target a Chinese audience. To achieve this objective, three Nike commercials, specifically launched in China, will be analyzed. For each advertisement, values, appeals, and other relevant features that reflect the cultural dimensions will be identified and examined. This will provide shed light on how Nike strategically incorporates cultural elements to resonate with Chinese consumers.
